Shooters Hill 6th Form College, North Greenwich – Craft and Design Facility

Johnson Design Partnership (JDP) was commissioned to design a new craft and design facility for Shooters Hill 6th Form College in North Greenwich. The project featured a passively ventilated atrium and a modern 6th form facility, utilizing Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to create a sustainable and efficient space for students.

A key part of the design was the use of shipping containers, an increasingly popular choice for schools due to their flexibility and cost-effectiveness. This modular construction approach allows for quick assembly and offers the potential for the structure to be disassembled and relocated as needed—an ideal solution for adaptable educational spaces.

As part of the project, JDP carried out a thorough feasibility study for school construction, ensuring that the design was both cost-effective and met the future needs of the institution. Our work as school renovation architects helped to inform a school building layout design that maximized space and functionality, even within the constraints of the existing site.

In addition, we offered architectural services for school building maintenance, ensuring that the facility will continue to meet the needs of the college over the long term. Our approach focuses on providing schools with flexible, sustainable solutions that can adapt to changing educational requirements.

For schools looking for innovative, practical designs that enhance both learning and community engagement, JDP is well-equipped to deliver high-quality results.
