We are pleased to see one of our completed residential design projects has recently come back onto the property market, marking a satisfying full-circle moment for the design team. Originally completed some time ago, the scheme has now been listed for sale, providing an opportunity to reflect on how the design vision has translated into a finished home that continues to perform well in the market.
The project was developed through the concept and planning stages to unlock the full potential of the property, incorporating a wrap-around single-storey extension alongside a new two-storey rear extension. The design focused on improving both space and functionality while creating a home that feels open, bright, and closely connected to its outdoor setting.
Key features of the completed scheme include a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area forming the central hub of the home, strong visual and physical connections to the garden, a new master bedroom suite with en-suite facilities, and improved family living spaces designed to maximise natural light and flexibility throughout. The result is a home that balances modern living requirements with practical, everyday functionality.
Looking back at the project, the early concept sketches and planning drawings remain a valuable part of the design story, showing how initial ideas evolved into a fully resolved scheme that was successfully delivered on site. The comparison between concept, planning, and completion continues to highlight the importance of thoughtful residential extension design in achieving long-term value and usability.
J.R. Construction & Renovations Ltd carried out the build phase, delivering the project with care and attention to detail, ensuring the original design intent was faithfully translated into the finished home.

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Thank you very much for going to the trouble to find this out for me.
It’s been a feature of your service to us that you’ve consistently gone the extra mile.

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Our garden is long, narrow and lies along a steep, exposed slope. It is difficult to do anything meaningful with it. Vic Johnson and Andi Clews have developed plans for our garden which should result in something very special, with stunning entrance, privacy and exciting trails throughout the garden. Can’t wait to see it completed!

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐We love this house and it is a testament to your skills that it works so well for us. I am hoping that you will be able to help us again when (if) we succeed in buying the run down (and badly designed) bungalow we want – I will be in touch soon, I hope

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐We engaged Johnson Design 4 years ago at the start of a big renovation and new build project. Matt Spinks has always taken our ideas or vague notions of an idea and turned them into something innovative which is both attractive and practical. We were delighted with the final plans which went straight through planning permission, even though part of the project was a Grade 2 listed renovation. As a project manager Matt has also been first rate and thoroughly supportive. We would not hesitate to recommend Johnson Design.

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐It had taken eighteen months for us to decide that we would re-locate to the ‘Strettons’. Moving house for us meant also moving an established ceramics and painting studio, we were concerned about finding a property within our budget that would also have the appropriate space.
It was obvious from our early property searches that finding the perfect ‘fit’ was very unlikely, so we took the opportunity to visit an open information weekend run by Johnson Design Partnership. We were immediately encouraged by what we saw and once we had purchased the property, we invited Johnson Design to visit and take a look.
Our original idea was to do a loft conversion as planning permission was already in place, but after a couple of exploratory meetings it became clear that this was unlikely to exploit the position of the property to its best advantage or indeed answer our need for comfortable bespoke studio space. These design conversations helped us focus on the true potential of the property, gradually the idea of a glass link between the original house and separate garage emerged as the way forward.
The final result is overwhelmingly better than we imagined it might be. ‘The Link ‘ has already become a creative centre, providing a light and airy space connecting inside and outside areas from both studio and house; not only is it a functional dining and living area but a truly peaceful and contemplative place to soak up the stunning changes in light of the sky and the landscape which surround us, but also a space to dream and imagine – a painting or ceramic form in the making?

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐We had plans done ready to go in case we got funding for my Gp surgery extension/ refurb from NHSE. This came very last minute with stipulations to use it before the end of the financial year. Johnson Design got all the necessary people in place and finalised quotes and palms in a very short timeframe and ensured that all conformed to NHS standards so that all went very smoothly. This involved ensuring that we could work at the site in portacabins.
The patients love our new building and the work thankfully enabled us to function very successfully through Covid.

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I have been involved with Johnson Design Partnership for some time now and my project with them began in March. I have been so impressed, in particular, with architect Matt Spinks, with his/their attention to detail, their inspiring ideas, and their attitude that nothing is ever too much trouble. They deal with things both promptly and efficiently and both myself and my daughter whose property it will be, and also to reside in, are so excited about the finished result.Cannot recommend this amazing company enough. Creating a new build like this, originally stables, can be a stressful time but this most professional company have succeeded in making it less so, Matt is always on the end of the phone or in person when needed. Thank you Johnson Design Partnership!!
