Albrighton Cricket Club: Supporting the Next Chapter

Posted Friday 25 September, 2026 in News

We’re pleased to be supporting Albrighton Cricket Club with plans to improve and redevelop its clubhouse facilities, helping create a more welcoming and practical community sports facility for the future.

As Shropshire architects, we enjoy working on projects that have a wider community benefit. Community architecture isn’t simply about designing a building; it’s about understanding how people use a space and creating facilities that can support local organisations, clubs and communities for years to come.

Supporting the project from concept to planning

Our involvement with Albrighton Cricket Club began with the initial concept design, exploring how the existing facilities could be improved and how the proposed development could work within the site.

We then supported the club through the planning process, developing the proposals and helping turn the initial ideas into a deliverable scheme.

The concept illustrations show some of the design thinking behind the proposed improvements and give an idea of how the completed development could transform the club’s facilities.

Looking towards Building Regulations

With the planning stage progressed, we are now looking towards the next phase of the project, including Building Regulations and technical design.

This is an important stage in taking a community project from an architectural concept towards something that can ultimately be constructed.

The club is currently fundraising to help make the redevelopment a reality, and we’re pleased to be continuing our involvement as the project moves forward.

For us, projects like this demonstrate the wider role that community-focused architecture and sports facility designcan play in supporting local communities across Shropshire.

Thanks for all your support with the process. I am so glad I went with you for the design and project management, it’s been complicated with the house being listed and the location etc. I have felt confident throughout the process, thanks to your service. I am very pleased with my much improved home and I know it would have been I very challenging and stressful process without your help.

I have been involved with Johnson Design Partnership for some time now and my project with them began in March. I have been so impressed, in particular, with architect Matt Spinks, with his/their attention to detail, their inspiring ideas, and their attitude that nothing is ever too much trouble. They deal with things both promptly and efficiently and both myself and my daughter whose property it will be, and also to reside in, are so excited about the finished result.Cannot recommend this amazing company enough. Creating a new build like this, originally stables, can be a stressful time but this most professional company have succeeded in making it less so, Matt is always on the end of the phone or in person when needed. Thank you Johnson Design Partnership!!

We engaged Johnson Design 4 years ago at the start of a big renovation and new build project. Matt Spinks has always taken our ideas or vague notions of an idea and turned them into something innovative which is both attractive and practical. We were delighted with the final plans which went straight through planning permission, even though part of the project was a Grade 2 listed renovation. As a project manager Matt has also been first rate and thoroughly supportive. We would not hesitate to recommend Johnson Design.

I highly recommend using Vic Johnson and his team at Johnson Design Partnership Limited, who have been appointed to create exciting designs for our new home and to lead the tendering and construction process. Vic and his colleague Becky Bradley have used their considerable depth of knowledge to develop exciting designs and are providing very helpful guidance as required through the decision-making process, whilst also focussing on projected costs and optimising the use of our available budget.
