Vic Johnson:

Practice founder Vic Johnson knew he wanted to be an architect from the age of six, when most boys were hoping to become train drivers. The fact he is building new offices next to a steam railway is therefore somewhat ironic. Vic's infectious passion for organic structures combined with meticulous attention to detail has resulted in landmark success across the UK and beyond. None of his work is for ego or self-gratification, despite the awards. Instead, meticulous research fused with understanding of the environment and its materials ensures his projects have both relevance and integrity, regardless of whether it is a multi-acre eco-park or a residential extension. Born in 1964, his four children are a constant reminder that youth is over-rated.

Matt Spinks:

With Barcelona's majestic Sagrada Familia as inspiration, senior architect Matt Spinks will never accept second best. Connecting architecture to its surroundings is a statement which enables him to make 21st Century design a symbiotic part of the landscape. Matt's ability to see the whole picture in infinite detail allows him to interpret client needs into developers' language with all the diplomacy of a world leader. Just not George Bush, you understand.

Richard Robinson:

Richard combines his inherent love of architecture with an engineering backbone sculpted in the commercial sector. True success sees the combination of his talents in equal measure: there is, after all, little point in dreaming the impossible if the reality proves equally so. Instead, it's his ability to combine the importance of structure, form and function with a traditional beauty which underlines his credentials. He makes it happen. As Frank Lloyd Wright once said: "The architect must be a prophet... a prophet in the true sense of the term... if he can't see at least 10 years ahead don't call him an architect."

Myles Sharples:

While the rest of the team is far from old, Myles Sharples brings the sort of enthusiasm and energy which only comes when you are fresh out of college. Brimming with ideas and with a deep-seated passion for design, Myles is an exciting addition to Johnson Design Partnership and most certainly its future. With both a technical and an artistic appreciation of architecture there is no doubt our newest recruit is heading for the top. And he makes a mean cup of tea.
