Historic Cottage

This two storey extension design takes a modern architectural approach and provides more overall living space for the client.

The light and airy nature of the extension respects the solidity of the historic masonry structure and utilises lightweight materials, such as timber and glass with a metallic screen. This screen and overall design creates an architectural feature which reflects the historic significance of the production of metal in the adjacent World Heritage Site.

A historical building set in the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site. The existing cottage comprised of two bedrooms and two reception rooms. The extra living space provided by the sympathetic yet modern extension offers a new living area and master bedroom. The clients requested a design which reflected the industrial history of the area, their creative spirits and the physical needs for space, light and ambience.
